About the Outwood Butcher's

Butchery is in the blood, so to speak, and we can trace our Butchering heritage back to the late 1800's.

Four generations no less, of Waltons have cut, carved and chopped their way from their roots in Market Bosworth, Warwickshire in 1891.

From there they headed to Hinckley, Leicestershire and Coalville, slowly heading South before setting up this gorgeous shop here in Outwood.

And, with thanks to this wonderful community, William, Mary, Emma and Amy have never been happier!

Our History

Butchery has always been in our family. We can trace our Butchering heritage back to the late 1800's.

Four generations no less, of Waltons have cut, carved and chopped their way from their roots in Market Bosworth, Warwickshire through Hinckley, Leicestershire and Coalville working their way steadily south to Outwood. Just take a look at some of our pictures…

Our first shop

In the year 1891 downtown Market Bosworth - Check out the array of flat caps, bowler hats (that's a Walton) and moustaches. Not to mention the stunning arrangement of produce!

The Walton Wagon

The Walton Wagon delivers in Market Bosworth early 1902 - See that fella' standing at the front holding the horse (also inset) - that's Williams Uncle Bob aged, we think, about 10.

1970's in Hinckley

It's the 1970's in Hinckley. 1974 to be precise from left to right; Michael Walton, Roger Clark, the famous Ford rally car champion (who has presumably just arrived on the cow), William Walton (yes he really was that good looking), Charlie Walton and far right Peter Walton. Sadly, no one remembers the name of the cow! The four brothers at this time were busy running three shops, supplying thousands of customers, hotels, restaurants and schools.

Outwood today

....and we've never been so happy, in our charming village shop.
